Exfoliation is the key to a great wax.
By exfoliating, you remove all dead skin build up allowing your hair to be removed easily. It will also help eliminate ingrown hairs.
Waxing removes unwanted hair at the root. There are two different types of waxes: hard and soft. Soft wax is applied warm to the skin in a thin layer in the direction of hair growth. Cloth strips are then applied to the warm wax, rubbed in the direction of hair growth, and quickly pulled off in the opposite direction. This method is best used on larger areas of the body such as the legs, back or chest. Hard wax is used without cloth strips. It is applied warm, in a layer about the thickness of a nickel, allowed to dry and then removed quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth. Hard wax is less irritating to sensitive skin and is excellent for the bikini, underarm and facial areas.
Hair grows in 3 stages and it can take up to 4 waxing treatments before all of the hair is on the same growth cycle, thus all come out together. Your first wax may not remove all the hair, it may last only one week, it may last up to three – it just depends on your own genetics, how recently and often you’ve shaved, and how well you do at preparing the skin before the wax and taking care of the skin between your treatments. Don’t be discouraged if your hair doesn’t stay gone too long the first few times. The more you wax the longer it will last. However, if your last hair removal was shaving, your first wax post shaving will not last as long. Please don’t shave in between waxing appointments!
Who’s Getting Their Hair Removed and Why?
Men & Women alike have been removing body hair for thousands of years. The only things that have changed are the reasons and fashions.
Today the reasons for hair removal are many:
Some have very specific reasons such as athletes, cyclists or swimmers enhancing their performance and reducing risk of injury complications.
Body builders, gym bunnies, dancers, models and those tattooed all wanting to show their bodies at their finest.
Others just enjoy the feeling - lighter, cleaner, cooler, sexier, hygienic or more confident.
There are those of course who are forced to have hair removed by their partners because they can’t stand the sight of their hairy back!
